The 2018 Excellence in Cyber Security Awards will be presented at the 10th Annual National Cyber Security Summit, June 5-7, at the Von Braun Center. These awards recognize excellence in Cyber Security Management and in the field of Education, to include Educators and Students. The 2018 Cyber Security Management Award recognizes excellence in cyber security management and will be presented at the 10th Annual National Cyber Security Summit. This summit is the premier IT security and information management conference in the southeast focused on critical issues facing government and commercial IT today. Now in its 10th year, the conference brings together over 1600 cyber security professionals from the public and private sectors. For more information, visit


Award Objective: This Cyber Security award recognizes individuals who exemplify excellence in cyber security management through individual contributions to cyber security programs that protect critical data and systems. The award recognizes thought leaders who have developed and operationalized innovative strategies or programs to address cyber security challenges.


Award Criteria: Each award nominee must be currently employed in the cyber security field. Nominee may be a current employee of a public or private industry, or any government agency including the Department of Defense. This award does include academic institutions. Past or present members of Cyber Huntsville Board of Directors or Advisory Council are not eligible for this award. Nominations may be in narrative or bulleted format but should be kept under 1,000 words.


Nominees should exhibit strong leadership and an innovative approach, going “above and beyond” daily responsibilities to make a difference in cyber security. Nominees will be evaluated on the following criteria:


  • Thought leadership– Individuals ability to employ their creativity & knowledge to innovate, influence trends, and drive the cybersecurity industry or their company to new levels
  • Contribution to cyber security programs that protect critical data and systems
  • Development and operationalization of innovative strategies or programs to address cyber security challenges
  • Demonstrated key metrics and benefits achieved
  • Nominee must be of high integrity and accomplishments must have made significant technical, business, and/or management contributions to cyber security


Award Period and Nomination Deadline: Accomplishments will be for the period of 1 Jan 2017 – 31 Dec 2017. Nominations should be emailed to and must be received NLT 30 April 2018.


Awards Presentation: Cyber Huntsville will present the 2018 Cyber Awards at the 10th Annual National Cyber Security Summit to be held on the 5th – 7th of June 2018 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, AL.


Guidelines for Nominators: We suggest third-party nominators notify the nominee before submitting a nomination. Individuals are welcome to nominate themselves.


Selection Committee: The 2018 Cyber Huntsville selection committee comprised of senior technology leaders will review nominations for completeness and content as well as select the award winners.
