Securing Operational Technologies

  • Friday, April 22, 2022
  • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • I2C building on UAH campus

Registration

  • Single session, includes lunch

Operational Technology (OT) is commonly used to control physical systems such as those found in manufacturing.  It extends to cover Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and the ICS management framework, as well as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA).  Operational Technology is increasingly converging with Information Technology (IT).  In doing so, these converged systems are seeing a large increase in cybersecurity threats.

By merging OT with IT, the previously siloed and protected systems that industry utilizes are now open to the same kinds of security threats normally targeted at IT systems. This includes ransomware and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.

To protect operational security environments there are some baseline protective measures that should be put in place. Come join Cyber Huntsville as Ben McGee with CyberProtex demonstrates the importance of securing operational technologies and demonstrates several tools and methods that are used to secure these vulnerable assets.

Attendees should bring a Windows 10 or Mac laptop to the session.  Lunch will be provided to registrants.
